Abstract:
The Clinical Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) at St John WA is a transformative initiative designed to enhance patient safety, optimize clinical outcomes, and align pre-hospital care with evidence-based best practices. This presentation will outline how CQIP integrates data-driven methodologies and continuous learning to foster a culture of excellence and accountability across the emergency stream.
The program's cornerstone is its structured framework, which incorporates the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle, systematic reviews, and standardized tools to support continuous improvement. Key performance indicators (KPIs) include increasing workforce engagement, achieving timely implementation and evaluation of quality improvement projects, and involving clinicians in meaningful, measurable change initiatives.
Attendees will learn about the strategic alignment of CQIP with St John WA’s core focus on being “the best place to work” and becoming “an excellent organization.” Practical examples will showcase how CQIP empowers the workforce with quality improvement skills, strengthens regulatory compliance, and builds community trust in ambulance services.
The session will conclude with insights into the CQIP roadmap for 2025 and beyond, highlighting the milestones achieved in developing a robust governance structure, fostering consumer partnerships, and advancing a sustainable, organization-wide improvement culture.
This presentation invites health professionals to explore the critical role of quality improvement in shaping the future of emergency care.
