Rebecca Lundy
Acting Chief Officer, ACT Ambulance
At 20 years old in 1994 Rebecca joined the ACT Ambulance Service and became an Intensive Care Paramedic in 1997 through the former vocational education pathway. Following 10 years on road as an Intensive Care Paramedic and Training and Development Officer, she cross-trained into the Communications Centre in 2004, where she led a training reform and delivered emergency call-taking and dispatch education programs. During this time, Rebecca also played a key role in introducing Paramedic Clinician model into the Communications Centre.
With a passion for developing people and improving organisational performance, Rebecca spent more than a decade in frontline paramedic, education and training roles before transitioning into operational leadership in 2014. She initially managed the Communications Centre before moving into emergency operations. Since 2017, Rebecca has regularly undertaken executive leadership responsibilities, including periods acting as Chief Officer and holds the delegations for Deputy Chief Officer. Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she commenced in the role of General Manager Operations, a position she was substantively appointed to in 2024.
Rebecca is an authentic and values-driven leader with extensive experience in operational management, workforce leadership, service delivery and organisational change. She is passionate about building high-performing teams, fostering positive workplace culture and supporting the wellbeing and development of staff. Under her leadership, the Operations team has received two Justice and Community Safety leadership awards in recent years, recognising their dedication, accountability and commitment to continuous improvement within ACTAS Operations.
Rebecca has witnessed and helped shape significant organisational change over more than three decades of service to the ACT community. Outside work, she and her partner are proud parents of a blended family of four children and are enjoying having recently become grandparents. They spend much of their weekends supporting netball, hockey and rugby league from the sidelines. When time permits, Rebecca enjoys playing competitive softball, although these days her knees occasionally have other ideas.
