Presentation Title and Overview: The heart of it all: why leading with love offers hope for culture transformation.
The success of our organisations is built on the hard work, commitment and excellence of our people. And yet, so many of them are yearning for change in the way that they are led, and how they experience their workplaces. It’s not a phenomenon unique to ambulance services, nor is it unique to the jurisdictions that make up the Council of Ambulance Authorities.
Historical, hierarchal leadership models have failed to harness the enormous potential of our people, which in turn has made culture change painstakingly slow. Leading with love offers a different approach, anchored in heart-centred leadership. The four chambers of heart-centred leadership are trust, vulnerability, compassionate candour and psychological safety. Together they create a framework for a newer, more contemporary leadership culture that has the power to radically change our organisations and the people we are privileged to lead. The question for all of us as leaders is whether we are brave enough to embrace it?
