Abstract:
As Australia’s population continues to grow, it’s crucial that Ambulance Services are equipped to support this expansion. At .id, we can provide Ambulance Services with detailed, age-based population forecasts to aid in future demand planning. These forecasts are trusted by over 100 Local Government Councils, NSW Ambulance, and Ambulance Victoria.
In greenfield areas, new suburbs can rapidly emerge, and as urban areas become denser, the demographic makeup and types of incident call outs will no doubt change. Our population forecasts serve as a reliable evidence base, giving you confidence in your strategic planning and ensuring your investments can support both current and future populations.
Our unique forecasting methodology considers macro drivers of change, such as births, deaths, and migration, and cascades this information down to a regional level. At a local level, we monitor and assess residential development to ensure the forecast population has homes to live in now and in the future.
Our forecasts have been used by NSW Ambulance to forecast incidents, allowing them to identify new station and staff requirements, resulting in significant funding.
With the Australian population forecast to grow by more than 7 million persons over the next 20 years and based on the incident rate published in the 2022 Productivity Commission of 161.1 per 1,000 population. By 2043, the country can expect an additional 1.3 million incidents. .id can help forecast where growth will occur at the micro level, enabling you to proactively plan your network, and be ready to support the growing community.
